The gaye device There's a stillness about this album which I really love. Minimal but also a full and rich listening experience which works well as a background for contemplative moments or complete immersion in the melodies and textures. Beautiful.

Richard Gürtler "Silent Observer" is gorgeously sparse, yet utterly expressive and evocative. It meticulously paints long forgotten images. My fave pieces include slightly enigmatic "Abandoned Fences", "Wolf Moon" with additional weeping cello sounds, "Headland Glow" with hazy sceneries or exquisitely poignant "Inner Strength" with delicate touch of contemplativeness. All compositions are rather minimal, but always filled with stirringly embracing lyricism. Well accomplished, Alan, and keep on going!!!

about

The concept behind this recording was to choose a space or environment, and let that space dictate the piano improvisations that resulted. Synth and sampled textures were added later.

“Ambient music is very much the less-is-more idea.

And this wonderfully understated but intelligently-less album by Brown...is by definition perfectly realised ambience.

If you have a crowded life (and really, who doesn't?) or just want to hear exceptional, minimal and melodic piano music which is as ignorable as it is enjoyable then this is an album you should have.

It is for those times when you need to find the space between those innumerable noisy notes that deafen our days.

Yes. Wonder-full.” - Graham Reid, Elsewhere.co.nz
